Expanded Perspectives

On this episode of Expanded Perspectives, the guys start the show off talking about Kyle's recent trip to Six Flags over Texas and how he's too old for that sort of thing. Then, fossil footprints show humans in North America for more than 21,000 years. Then, a listener writes in about a story about cops being called out to an old lady's house who claimed that Satan was in her basement.

After the break, the boys get into some strange stories about Shadow Beings. Have you ever been reading or watching TV when suddenly, in the periphery of your vision, you catch glimpse of what appears to be a shadowy figure in the room with you? Dark, shadowy, humanoid figures like these are commonly known as shadow people, and they can be extremely scary and unsettling to the people who experience seeing them. But defining exactly what shadow people are (and if they’re paranormal) is up for debate. Descriptions of shadowy, human-like figures have appeared in folklore and religious texts throughout history and cultures. Some examples include the supernatural creatures known as Jinn of ancient Islamic theology, the shadowy beings known as Nalusa Chito of the Native American Choctaw tribe’s mythology. The modernly-used term “shadow people” was coined by paranormal researcher and book author Heidi Hollis, who claims that shadow people have been around since the beginning of time and usually appear as dark human-shaped silhouettes in our peripheral vision.

On today’s show, we’re going all the way back to May 5th, 2014 when we did an exclusive interview with the legendary John Anthony West. This is perhaps our favorite interview we’ve ever done. John Anthony West was an American author, lecturer, guide, and proponent of the Sphinx water erosion hypothesis in geology. Influenced by R.A. Schwaller de Lubicz,  in 1993 his work with Robert M. Schoch, a geologist and associate professor of natural science at the College of General Studies at Boston University was presented by Charlton Heston in an NBC special called “The Mystery of the Sphinx” that won a News & Documentary Emmy Award for Best Research and a nomination for Best Documentary. The documentary contends that the main type of weathering evident on the Great Sphinx and surrounding enclosure walls could only have been caused by prolonged and extensive rainfall during the time period from 10,000 to 5000 BCE and was carved out of limestone bedrock by an ancient advanced culture. This challenged the conventional dating of the carving of the statue circa 2500 BCE. West suggested that the Sphinx may be over twice as old as originally determined, whereas Schoch made a more conservative determination of between 5000 and 7000 BCE.

This week on Expanded Perspectives Classic Rewind we go all the way back to April 7th, 2014 when we spoke with Rick Osmon about Romans in America prior to Christopher Columbus. Rick Osmon was selected for the United States Air Force Academy right out of high school. He later attended Vincennes University and earned an Associates of Science in Laser and Electro-Optics Technology. He worked for defense contractors a number of years and then took a job with the US Navy as a civilian with an engineering support field activity, specializing in radar, night vision, and laser equipment for surveillance and munitions guidance. Most of this work was in direct support of Special Operations forces equipment acquisitions. In that capacity, Rick also became familiar with video-teleconferencing technology. But all those years, Rick was also reading everything he could find about the weird and unusual, history, archeology, paleontology, geography, cartography, cryptozoology, cryptography, and hollow earth theory.

After leaving government employment in early 2005, Rick began this hunt for hidden knowledge full-time. He also began blogging, researching, and writing, and, in early 2007, started an internet radio show entitled “The Oopa Loopa Cafe”. In 2008, he began pestering his long-time research buddy, Dennis Crenshaw, to start another internet show about the various mysteries. Dennis chose the title “Unraveling the Secrets”. At the beginning of 2010, those 2 shows became part of an affiliation network with other show hosts to form Paranormal Soup Network. By the end of 2010, the endeavor was re-branded and renamed the Soup Media Network. Now Rick is becoming well known on the conference circuit and is writing more than blogs. His first book, The Graves of the Golden Bear; Ancient Monuments and Fortresses of the Ohio Valley released in October 2011.

After the chit-chat, the guys get into some very strange stories that were sent in by the listeners.
